CryoPen®

Flawless skin in seconds

CryoPen® is a state of the art treatment that uses extreme cold, or cryotherapy, to painlessly and safely destroy unwanted, benign and superficial lesions on the surface of the skin.

This innovative treatment is a fast, effective and safe solution for removal of skin imperfections. It uses liquefied nitrous oxide to destroy the tissue by freezing the cell fluid which in turn forms ice shards that rupture the cell membrane, in turn destroying the cell and the lesion.

Unlike standard cryotherapy the CryoPen® allows for far more precise treatment meaning surrounding tissues are not damaged. Cryotherapy is beneficial as it is quicker than other treatments, so patients can be in and out in seconds. It requires no anaesthesia and has minimal scarring.

There are no limitations on activities (except protecting the area from damage or abrasion) and patients can return to normal activities after treatment(s).

CryoPen® Cryotherapy can treat all common benign skin lesions including:

  • Skin tags
  • Age/liver spots
  • Milia
  • Cherry angioma
  • Viral verrucae (warts)
  • Solar lentigo (sun spots)
  • Plantar warts
  • Molloscum Contagiosum

Treatment details

A comprehensive consultation will take place before treatment. Your photographs, complete medical history and consent for treatment will be taken. Desires and expectations will be discussed.

If necessary the skin lesion will be examined with a dermatoscope. Only benign skin lesions can be treated.

First Freeze Cycle: The clinician will hold the applicator as close as possible to the lesion, and move it quickly towards and away from it. Depending on the lesion size and depth, the treatment could be 1 to 30 seconds.

Thaw: After the first freezing cycle, the tissue will be allowed to thaw for about 30 seconds.

Second Freeze Cycle: The second freeze cycle will start. The tissue will freeze faster than during the first freezing cycle.

A follow up visit is recommended after 2 to 4 weeks to confirm that all pathological tissue has disappeared or if a follow up treatment is necessary.

Aftercare Advice

DO NOT:

  • Scratch or pick the treated area, as this will cause the area to take longer to heal and may cause damage to the skin.
  • Use scrubs on the area, as this will damage the surface of the skin.
  • It is advised that you do not take any histamine for 48 hours in advance and 24 hours following a Cryotherapy treatment.
